The PDCS Senedd ensures that every learner has a voice and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

Through a wide range of leadership departments, pupils work together to improve their school, support their community, promote children’s rights, and contribute positively to the wider world.

At Pembroke Dock Community School, the PDCS Senedd is our pupil leadership model, designed to ensure that every child has the opportunity to contribute to school life and make a positive difference. Through the Senedd, learners develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and citizenship skills while helping to improve our school, our community, and the wider world.

What is the PDCS Senedd?

The Senedd is made up of a range of pupil-led departments, allowing children to participate in an area that matches their interests, strengths, and passions. The work of the Senedd is guided by four key drivers:

  • Improving our school
  • Improving the wider community
  • Supporting the Global Goals
  • Promoting the rights of children through the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

Senedd Departments

Pupils can contribute through a variety of departments, including:

  • Safeguarding and Finance
  • Social Justice
  • Media and Communications
  • Science and Innovation
  • Emotional Well-being
  • Equality and Human Rights
  • Energy and Environment
  • Community and Cynefin
  • Sports and Physical Health
  • Languages
  • Arts and Culture
  • Education

These departments provide opportunities for children to lead projects, share ideas, organise events, and influence positive change within the school and beyond.

How Does It Work?

Pupils work together within their department on projects and action plans throughout the year. Activities are designed to support learning, wellbeing, community engagement, and social responsibility. Departments meet regularly and collaborate across the school to ensure that all learners can contribute their ideas and take part in meaningful leadership experiences. Each department identifies projects that:

  • Improve the school.
  • Benefit the local community.
  • Contribute to wider national or global issues. [Senedd 2026-27 (1) | PowerPoint]
  • Celebrating Success

At the end of the year, departments showcase their achievements through a Senedd Showcase, where pupils share the projects, events, and initiatives they have led throughout the year. This allows learners to celebrate successes, learn about the work of other departments, and help shape future participation.
