At Pembroke Dock Community School (PDCS), we use a range of digital platforms to support effective communication with parents and guardians. One of our primary communication tools is the My Ed App.
The My Ed App enables us to keep families informed about school news, events, and important updates, replacing the traditional method of sending paper letters home with pupils. This digital approach helps ensure that information reaches parents and carers promptly, reduces the risk of communications being misplaced, and supports our commitment to reducing paper usage and improving environmental sustainability.
The app is also used to send absence notifications, helping the school fulfil its statutory responsibility to contact parents when a pupil’s reason for absence is unknown.
In addition, parents and carers can:
- Send messages directly to the school and receive timely responses.
- Report pupil absences.
- View up-to-date attendance information.
- Access important school policies and documentation.
The My Ed App is completely free to use, with no charges for either families or the school when sending or receiving messages. By using the app, parents help the school reduce administrative costs, allowing more resources to be directed towards enhancing pupils’ educational experiences at PDCS.
To download the app, please visit the website above or search for “My Ed” in your app store, and follow the registration instructions. For data protection purposes, full access is only available to individuals who are recorded on the school’s management system as having parental responsibility and whose contact details, including a mobile telephone number, are held by the school.
If you experience any difficulties downloading the app or accessing your child’s information, please contact the school reception for assistance.
Class Charts for Parents
Pembroke Dock Community School uses Class Charts, an online platform that allows staff to monitor and record pupil achievements and behaviour throughout the school day.
We value strong partnerships with parents and guardians, and Class Charts provides a secure and effective way of sharing information about pupils’ progress in real time.
Through the system, pupils receive points for both positive achievements and behaviour-related incidents. Parents and carers are notified instantly through the app whenever an achievement or behaviour event is recorded.
To gain access to your child’s Class Charts account, you will need a unique parent access code. This can be obtained from the school reception once your child has started at PDCS. A guide explaining how to log in and use the system will also be provided.
